He stated that once your cd4 cells are depleted and your immune system begins to rebuild after starting HIV therapy that you have an artificial immune system because it is not the one you were born with. Is this true?

If the HIV virus cannot survive lower temperatures. I wonder, why isn't a clinically controlled reduction in body temperature to the point at which the virus dies is considered as a cure for HIV/AIDS?

If HIV1 virus triggers an autoimmune disorder (e.g Diffuse Infiltrative Lymphocytosis Syndrome, PN) in the first couple of months after infection, could the production of antibodies be delayed signficantly by the immune system disorder such that it might take 6-12 months before antibodies are detected by Elisa testing?

This week, Reuters had a news story reporting that HIV can infect fat cells. What measures are being taken to look into this finding? How could something this major go unnoticed for years of HIV scientific research? Could other cells be infected by HIV? If so, wouldn t it be wise to look for HIV in other cells in the body? Lastly, what will this finding have on the goal of eliminating the body of HIV?

A close relative has been diagnosed. His wife says it is HIV but he has so many of the symptoms of full blown AIDS. Would chemo be used if Kaposi's sarcoma were not present? Have they improved the HIV cocktails in the last number of years? Also, he had Pneumocystis pneumonia about 9 years ago--if they haven't had sex since then, is it likely she would test negative even though they had regular unprotected sex up until then?

Have there been any cases where someone has contracted the virus and has been cured from it? Can a person not catch HIV at all? Why are some more susceptible that others? Is it legit to say that a cure is coming?

My friend was diagnosed HIV positive 1992. What exactly is HIV positive? Also, this is kind of a difficult question, but if he has survived for the past 10 years, how much longer will he continue to do so? One last question, is there any sexual activity for him that can be engaged in without his partner contracting the virus?
