A candlelit vigil will take place on Monday evening at the Beacon of Hope - the UK's memorial for people who have died from Aids - in Manchester.
And a vigil will also be held at Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral.
Earlier this year, the Health Promotion Agency said the numbers of people living with HIV and Aids in the North West is at the highest level since official recording began.
In 2002, 2,425 people were treated in the North West for HIV - a 24% increase on the year before.
The candlelit vigil in Manchester will be held in aid of Operation Fundraiser - which supports HIV/Aids charities in the North West - at 2000 GMT at the Beacon of Hope in Sackville Park on Canal Street.
It will be followed by the switch-on of the Gay Village's Christmas tree lights.
The Anglican Cathedral service in Liverpool, which is also a candlelit vigil, has been organised by Sahir House, an HIV/Aids charity in Merseyside.
The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Ron Gould, will be speak at the service - the tenth to be held at the Cathedral.
Other events, including concerts and club nights, are also taking place across the North West.
